Review Time 9!
We are about to turn into the home stretch. Let’s take a few minutes to review progress to date.
Introduction
Have you ever heard of the term “the home stretch?” Well, if you haven't, let’s review what it means and how my use of the term affects you.
The term originally is a horse racing term and describes the final turn into the straight section of the track that leads to the finish line. The term is also used in baseball to describe the path between third base and home plate, the ninth inning of a game or the final month of the regular season. You may have heard it used in basketball or even football games to describe the end of a series of home games. If you are taking a trip, it could be used to indicate the last leg of a driving trip of the last segment of an airplane trip.
At least for people of my generation, using the term “the home stretch” is pretty common in general conversation. So what does that have to do with you? Well, the answer is that we have finished three of the four major segments of the Afterburner Success Course and we are about to enter into the final portion of the course. However, we are nowhere near finished as we have a lot of important information to cover so hold on and stay with me
Review
Here is what we have covered since our last review:
We’ve discussed personal goals. Some are low cost, some are high cost. You likely will find you like to do some of each.
We discussed the Principles of Personal Achievement and I recommended a wonderful book by Napoleon Hill. Even though the book is 100 years old, it is still filled with wisdom applicable to you today.
We brainstormed your personal goals, listed them, placed them into the priority matrix, and completed our personal goals template.
What’s next?
We are now entering the final phase (the home stretch!) and completing our lifetime goals template. We’ll also cover some very important information of what to do when you run into problems. Be sure to take your time on this and use your quiet time, pondering, and reflection skills. Be sure you are comfortable with the financial, professional, and personal goals you have set for yourself. I’ve mentioned previously that in the classes I have taught, some students struggle to write them all down and tell me, “I’ll do them later.” That always worries me because outside of a specific time to do this exercise, later sometimes never comes. And you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, the urgent gets in the way of the important and time just slips away and goal go undefined and unrealized. I don’t want that to happen to you, so please see if you can get all of this nailed before we move on.
That’s all for this week!
